Parts and colours

Everything a customer may colour is a part. Parts come from the model: every object in a 3MF, every mesh in a GLB, or the whole model for an STL. The Colours & parts tab lists them with their names from the file.

Offering colours for a part

For each part choose the filament colours the customer may pick and the default colour. The colour list comes from the materials you keep under Materials, so the names on the order match what is in your printer.

A part with only one colour is simply printed in that colour; the customer sees no choice for it.

Several sizes or styles

When sizes or styles have their own models, a part has to exist in each of them under the same name. The parts tab shows which model is being previewed and warns when a part is missing from a file, so you can fix the names in your slicer before publishing.

Renaming parts

Part names are shown to customers as the step labels in the designer and on the order line, for example "Lid colour: PLA Matte Scarlet Red". Give the objects in your slicer the names you want customers to read before exporting the 3MF.

Colours in the preview

The designer recolours the preview as the customer picks colours, using the colour swatch of each filament. Matte, silk and translucent materials are approximated; the ordered material and colour name is what goes on the order.
